The Healthy Neighbourhood Fund 2016/17
The Healthy Neighbourhood Fund is money given by the NHS to the Moulsecoomb Local Action Team (though The Trust for Developing Communities) to distribute in the Moulsecoomb area every year.
Local community groups that deliver activities or social groups with a particular interest in residents' health and well-being are encouraged to apply and then a panel of local residents meet to agree on those that are to be funded.
In total the Moulsecoomb Local Action Team distributed £4,000 to local groups for their activities in 2016/17.
This year 14 groups applied and the following local groups were successful in securing funding :
1) Moulsecoomb Boys Brigade & Girls Ass
received two x funding; one for each of the age groups they work with; 5 - 11 year olds and 11 - 18 year olds.
The group offer a wide range of activities for local children and young adults in a welcoming and safe space.
The group meet weekly on Tuesdays from 5pm at St Andrews Hall Hillside.

2) Pots of talent - Pottery group
Received funding for their pottery group. Pots of Talent offer a safe, nurturing space for people to take time out from daily responsibilities, discover their creative, clay-based talents, learn new skills and gain confidence socially.
The group meet weekly on Mondays, 2.30 - 3.30pm at The Bridge in Moulsecoomb

3) Madhatters Lunch Group
Received funding for their weekly lunch group where elderly people meet weekly to socialise over a nutritious 2 course meal with transport provided if needed.
The group meet weekly on Thursdays, 12 - 2 at St Georges Hall, Moulsecoomb

4) Moulsecoomb Bike Club
Received funding for their local bike project based at Moulsecoomb Primary School. This project runs a weekly bike club at the school and also has a pump track available, encouraging parents, families and children to use the track and get more active by regular cycling.

5) St Andrew's Fellowship Group
Received funding for their monthly fellowship and social church group facilitated by St Andrews Church in Mouslecoomb. The group have guest speakers of interest and provide transport where possible. They try to reach out to isolated and older members of the community.
They meet monthly in St Andrews Church, HIllside, Moulsecoomb

6) Broadfields Fish and Chip Lunch Club
Broadfields sheltered housing scheme in Brighton have monthly lunches for the residents as well as outreach in local community for further elderly and isolated members of the community.
Broadfields is on Moulsecoomb Way just off the Lewes Road
7) Mindful Movement and Relaxation
Received funding for their new year classes. These classes mindfully help local residents with their physical and mental health by helping to address attendees health needs, including anxiety, depression, back strains and drug rehabilitation among other things.
These courses run for a number of weeks from The Bridge Community Centre in Moulsecoomb.

8) The Sunflower Support Group (In partnership with Amaze)
Received funding to deliver a 'Looking after you' course to be delivered to the group by Amaze. The Sunflower Support Group is a Moulsecoomb based group for parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs. This funding will enable the group to have a 'Looking after you' session delivered by Amaze helping to empower members of the group with coping strategies and resilience to combat stress and anxiety.
The group meet on the second Tuesday of the month, usually at Moulsecoomb Primary School.

9) Flamenco and Spanish Group
Received funding to continue to deliver local Flamenco and Spanish sessions. These sessions teach attendees of all abilities the basics of Flamenco dancing, helping with physical health and flexibility as well as being a fun and social activity. As well as a number of outings through-out the calendar year.
The class meet at The Bridge Community Centre in Moulsecoomb

10) Metamorphosis Art Group
Received funding to continue their weekly arts and crafts group in Moulsecoomb. The group creates a creative and safe space for local people to pursue arts and crafts activities including isolated and disabled members of the local community.
The group also arrange regular outings and have a regular yoga session.
The venue can vary but is always based in Moulsecoomb
