Sad news for MLAT and our neighbourhood
MLAT is sad to share that our friend and secretary Terrence Hill has passed away. Terrence was a strong advocate for Moulsecoomb and especially Bates Estate, we will miss his passion and attention to detail. The City of Brighton and especially our local neighbourhoods will miss this gentle but passionate campaigner, as will MLAT.
You can help our community to fundraise money for a memorial bench for Terrence by donating to our crowdfunder: https://www.gofundme.com/f/terrence-memorial-bench/
Our next Moulsecoomb Local Action Team is an Online Zoom Residents Open Meeting
Online Meeting - Wednesday 13th January 2021
Our next scheduled meeting is to be online using the ZOOM.us application @ 10.30am so please contact us if you wish to join online (for the Meeting ID), so we can welcome as many as possible for a "Round Robin" chat.
(Note: If any physical venues are released for use, we will inform you)
Please note our July Open Meeting went ahead via 'Zoom.us' and we had very useful conversations about how we go forward and involve the community in these post-Covid19 times.
**Also note that we currently have two vacant spaces on our Committee so contact us if you wish to volunteer.

The LAT aims and objectives are to raise community safety awareness in the area of Moulsecoomb, Bevendean & Bates Estate. We are a group of residents who work closely with local and statutory organisations to ensure that the priorities we set every year get actioned and improve the lives of all the people who live here. |
We do occasional area walk-abouts with both the police and the council to ensure
our estate is a safe and cleaner environment to live in and also write a bi-annual newsletter
that we deliver to almost 3,000 homes in the area that keep residents updated about how we
celebrate the many community events, activities and businesses that thrive across our 'Garden Estate'.
You can also find us on Facebook;
https://www.facebook.com/Moulsecoomblat/
We meet every 2nd Wednesday of every month from 10.30am - 12.30pm (including August 2020)
at *Moulsecoomb Leisure Centre on Moulsecoomb Way. (*currently online with Zoom.us)
We have lots of interesting monthly presentations, recent examples include;
TDC Health events and info, an exhibition of the proposed development of the Lewes Road Preston Barracks site,
a visit from the Council on Valley Gardens improvements and also the Stanmer Village Heritage upgrades.
Recent guest speakers include; ESFRS talking about Home safety, BHCC Streetlighting work,
Albion In The Community topics and also local conversations about the 'IntoUniversity' at St.Andrew's.
We always continue to interact with our representatives at both Sussex and Brighton Universities.
We are also in regular contact with Alerts from Sussex Police and regularly get visits from our new PCSO's for much needed updated & local advice. Information can be found on their website: at Sussex Police or visit local crime stats
We are always looking for more members to attend our meetings, add to debates and join our team. We also encourage budding writers and photographers to blog for our website, write for our Newsletter or just to come along and support us on our
walkabouts. So if you want to be involved in making a big difference to your community then please come and join us!
